Whenever we create an action for activists to send to a target email box, we verify that the address functions correctly. Several things can happen once activists begin to send messages that may lead to messages bouncing back.
1) Target mailboxes can become flooded and/or their servers get overwhelmed by the volume of messages. At this point, any additional emails will bounce back and activists will receive error messages
2) Targets may immediately switch email addresses in order to avoid the deluge of emails from online activists.
3) Targets may place blocks on their email addresses to filter out messages from activists.
If you have received an error message from a bouncing email address, please let us know immediately and we will do our best to find an updated email address for the target. Keep in mind that after sending an appeal through the Online Action Center, you can opt to receive a copy of your letter in your personal email account. Since we always include a physical address for actions, in case of receiving an error message from a bouncing email, we encourage you to print out a copy of your letter and send it through the mail.
